AI Music Now Makes Up Nearly Half of Daily Uploads on Deezer

AI-generated music is rapidly reshaping the streaming industry, with Deezer revealing that around 44% of songs uploaded to its platform each day are created using artificial intelligence.

The platform receives tens of thousands of AI-generated tracks daily, highlighting how quickly the technology is scaling. Despite this surge in uploads, AI-made music still represents only a small share of what people actually listen to, accounting for roughly 1% to 3% of total streams.

The rise in AI-generated content has raised concerns across the music industry, particularly around originality, copyright, and fairness. Many of these tracks are created using tools that allow users to generate full songs with minimal input, making music production more accessible but also increasing the risk of oversaturation.

In response, Deezer has introduced measures to manage the influx. The platform is tagging AI-generated songs, removing them from recommendation algorithms, and limiting how they generate revenue. The aim is to maintain transparency for listeners while protecting human artists from being overshadowed by automated content.

The company has also highlighted the growing issue of fraudulent activity, where large volumes of AI-generated tracks are uploaded to manipulate streaming systems and collect royalties. Industry experts warn that this could undermine the integrity of music platforms if left unchecked.

The development reflects a wider shift in the music industry, where artificial intelligence is not only changing how music is created but also how it is distributed and monetised. As the technology continues to evolve, the challenge will be balancing innovation with the need to support human creativity.
