AWS Spends $50B to Build AI Infrastructure for the US Government

The funding is set to break ground in 2026. It will deliver nearly 1.3 gigawatts of new AI and supercomputing capacity across AWS Top Secret, AWS Secret, and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. This immense power originates from new data centres purpose-built with the most advanced compute and networking gear.
Federal agencies gain immediate access to a powerful arsenal of technology. They receive AWS's full range of AI services, including Amazon SageMaker AI for model customisation and Amazon Bedrock for deployment. Key foundation models, such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, plus leading open-weight options, become immediately available.
Specialised hardware, including AWS Trainium AI chips and NVIDIA AI infrastructure, equips agencies to build custom AI solutions, process massive data sets, and directly boost workforce productivity.
