China Pushes AI Firms Away From Nvidia Dependence

Chinese AI groups are shifting more attention towards domestic chip suppliers, with DeepSeek reportedly backing Huawei hardware as Beijing seeks to reduce reliance on Nvidia.
This goes beyond a purchasing decision. It reflects a national push to secure core technology supply chains.
Many companies learned the same lesson during global shortages. Depending on one supplier works until disruption hits. China now appears determined to avoid that risk in advanced computing.
Nvidia still leads in AI chips through performance, software tools and developer support. Yet geopolitical pressure and export controls have accelerated demand for alternatives.
Huawei could benefit if its hardware continues to improve and software support expands. DeepSeek’s move suggests some customers now see local options as commercially viable.
If Chinese chips become strong enough for mainstream AI workloads, global market share could shift faster than expected.
